Episode 18: The Secret to Your BEST Day Ever: Start with Scripture!
Have you ever had a day when everything was falling apart and crazy? Cranky kids, grumpy mom, you know how it goes. I do too. Today I’m letting you in on a secret that will give you your BEST days ever: start with Scripture.
Yes, we have discussed personal times with Jesus and how vital and valuable they are (click here to listen to the episode), but I have found that corporate (all-together) time in the Word makes a HUGE difference in the atmosphere in our home. Listen in to today’s episode to hear how our family does this!
Scripture I mentioned in this episode:
Psalms 59:16
But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.
Psalms 5:3
Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
Psalms 57:8
Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song.
Ps. 119:147
I rise early, before the sun is up;
I cry out for help and put my hope in your words.
Ps. 119:97-104
Oh, how I love your instructions!
I think about them all day long.
Your commands make me wiser than my enemies,
for they are my constant guide.
Yes, I have more insight than my teachers,
for I am always thinking of your laws.
I am even wiser than my elders,
for I have kept your commandments.
I have refused to walk on any evil path,
so that I may remain obedient to your word.
I haven’t turned away from your regulations,
for you have taught me well.
How sweet your words taste to me;
they are sweeter than honey.
Your commandments give me understanding;
no wonder I hate every false way of life
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Isaiah 55:10-11
The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Today’s question is:
How do you handle media when some kids are ready for slightly more mature content (ie not into Sesame Street anymore) and others aren’t?
