Today I am joined by my friend Angie Wooldridge. Angie is the epitome of a kind, genuine, joyful mom, and I am thrilled to let you in on our conversation. Here’s what Angie has to say:

“I met Jesus when I was 16 & he turned my whole world around. I was headed down a scary path & he rescued me.

I’ve been married to Grant for 13 years, and am a mom of 4 daughters; Avey (11), Anna (9), Kirsten (7) & Lily (5).

We’ve done lots of different kinds of schooling- Christian preschools, private Christian school, homeschool, non-Christian private school, public school K-12 at home & now schoolhouses (mentored by Ambleside Schools International).

As we began our schoolhouse journey last year, God really began to speak to me about this idea, that this was part of his dream of reforming education.  He said to me, “In the same way I am emphasizing house churches, so I am emphasizing schoolhouses”.

God wants to bring healing and wholeness to our families, to our relationships. Is homeschooling or schoolhouses hard emotionally? Yes, especially when you come from a lot of dysfunction like I did. For years homeschooling was incredibly painful because of my own childhood trauma that needed healing. But I was determined to fight for my healing. I went to counseling. Grant and I went through the small group “How We Love” 4 times & we are going to start another How We Love Group in our home next month. Over this past decade of parenting, God has healed my heart in layers. I am WAY more healed and whole than I was in the beginning years. Now I can be with my children all day and teach them and find joy in motherhood but I had to fight for it, I had to process through my own trauma and allow God to heal me. He’s healed me from rage, anger, depression, anxiety and brought me into love, peace & joy in motherhood. He’s SO good!!!

As we were studying Columbus last year, God spoke to me several times that as he led Columbus in uncharted territory to discover new places so he would guide me on uncharted territory in education to bring reformation to how we do education.

I woke up one morning last September in the beginning of our school year and the word BRIGADE was pounding in my heart and my mind. I thought Brigade? Isn’t that a military/war term? I hadn’t watched or read anything that would trigger this word. I looked up the word and it means an army unit smaller than a division (regular schools), a group of individuals organized for a particular purpose: a rescue brigade.

God is doing this and he’s inviting us in to be apart of his education reformation. This is his plan. I saw in a vision when I closed my eyes these schoolhouses all over America. We need people who are willing to host these in their homes. Open your home and just begin with 1 of your dear friends who lives near you who has kids similar ages. That’s what I did.”
