I love Jesus, I love my husband and kids, and I love that God has called me to be a mom. Mothering my children is fulfilling and gives me so much joy because I understand the divine calling that God has placed on my life.
I’ve held a lot of outward-facing roles in my life: Sunday school teacher, Children’s pastor, worship leader, writer, conference speaker…They were all wonderful, and God led me into all of them. They have all formed part of who I am. Some would say that stepping away from most of them for a time (to be a wife and mother) would be “losing” part of myself, or that my bigger calling is “less than” what I did before.
But no! Though my stage is smaller, I believe my impact and longevity is greater than ever before. I have been given ten (so far) new people to raise and train, and my impact in them will go so far beyond me, creating a dynasty of generations that are in love with God and impacting the world for Christ. Little me mothering my own children literally has the power to change the world.
In my deepest heart of hearts, I want to empower other Jesus-following moms to believe in the power their lives hold in the very simple, normal, day-to-day mothering of their children. We are a force to be reckoned with, mama—you and I! The world lies to us about the value of children, and therefore the value of motherhood. It is time for us to rise up with the Word of God in our hands and our hearts, and rise up again to our place in HIS-story.
